This Town Hall meeting gives the Colorado AAPI Community an in-person opportunity to share AAPI hate incidents that they had experienced or are aware of in the past year. Many of these incidents have not been told or reported due to cultural hesitation, language barriers, or limited reporting access. I. Building Bridges (1:00 - 1:30 p.m.) National AAPI Hate Issues Justin Lock, Senior Counsel and Chief of Staff Community Relations Service, U. S. Department of Justice Colorado Hate Crimes Jeremy Shaver, Senior Associate Regional Director, Anti-Defamation League/Hate Free Colorado II. Community Sharing with Law Enforcement (1:30 - 3:00 p.m.) Moderators: George Kuwamura, Community Trainer, Action Against Hate and Don J. Toussaint, 18th Judicial District Judge The law enforcement professionals in attendance will listen, offer their perspectives, and provide actions to keep us safe. Representatives from the U.S. Attorney’s office, FBI, District Attorney’s office, Law Enforcement Officers, and Legislators from Adams, Arapahoe, Aurora, Denver, Jefferson, Thornton, and Westminster. Panelists include: U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of Colorado, Assistant U.S. Attorney, Bryan D. Fields FBI, Denver Field Office/Civil Rights Program, Supervisory Special Agent, Thomas Shea Aurora Police Department, Special Operations Bureau Intelligence Unit, Sgt. James March Denver Police Department, Counter Threats Section, Sgt. Anthony Parisi Edgewater Police Department, Chief Eric Sonstegard Jefferson County, Sheriff Todd Reeves Refreshments and conversations to follow the program. Limited seating is available.
