Description

The Department of Justice in collaboration with the Office of Equity and Inclusion, the U.S. Attorney's Office, and local Albuquerque faith-based leaders is holding a community forum focused on protecting places of worship across New Mexico. This inter-faith community forum will bring together traditionally marginalized religions who experience high levels of discrimination across New Mexico. The program will be the beginning steps for organizing places of worship on how to actively combat hate crimes through dialogue and relationship building with both state and federal law enforcement. The three-hour program will provide statistics on hate crimes in the region, how faith-based communities can protect themselves against active shooters, learn from a hate crime prosecution panel on how to access state and federal resources for faith communities, and hear from fellow faith leaders on the actions and strategies available to protect their places of worship. Mayor Tim Keller will deliver remarks regarding the importance of this forumFood and interpretation services will be providedFilming at this event will be strictly prohibited to protect the identity of all participantsFor more information you can contact: Beatriz Valencia at (505-768-3040) or by email at [email protected] Timothy Green IV at (505-768-3495) or by email at [email protected]
