We're fortunate to have a brilliant makerspace community here in Atlanta- we're creating this event as a chance for local makerspace members to meet, network, talk shop, be a lil weird, and compete in a friendly chili cookoff! Here's the run down: Who: Any Atlanta-area makerspace members & guests welcome too! Age 16+ only: our shop is not childproof. Our space will max out at around 100 people, so please RSVP early! When: April 1st, 2023 @ 1pm (we super promise this isn't an April Fools' gag, for real) Where: Freeside Atlanta; 3043 Commerce Way, Atlanta, GA 30354 (some maps will indicate Hapeville instead of Atlanta- that's still us!) What: Primarily a social/networking/fun event centered around a chili cookoff (more details below). It would also be cool to have a few hands-on makery activities or demos for the crowd. If you're interested in having a table set up to do an activity/demo, please email us at [email protected]! (this will not be a market/place to sell things) Chili Cookoff?: Yes! If you want to enter the competition, bring a big pot of your best chili! Bonus: You'll also get free admission if you bring chili! We'll ask you to list ingredients on a paper next to your chili to help people with dietary restrictions. There will be voting and prizes, but the real prize will be the friendships we make along the way. (categories include but are not limited to- best overall chili, best vegan chili, most creative chili, etc.) What is the cost? What does it include?: We'll have a small admission cost to cover the things we'll provide: hotdogs, rice, bowls, utensils, water, cups, ice, etc. If you bring a big ol' pot of chili, you'll get in free! See ticket options for other prices. (between $5-12) Drinks?: We'll provide water! There will also be coolers/ice available if you want to bring any other drinks. These coolers will work on an honor system basis, so please be cool and only drink what you brought. We're not responsible for any missing drinks, and you're more than welcome to bring your own cooler if you want! If you're bringing beer, please drink responsibly. Must be 21+ to consume alcohol. Why?: We might be biased, but we think makers are the coolest people on the planet. We'd love nothing more than to help the Atlanta maker community grow and create bonds between our spaces! Who knows? Maybe this could lead to something more?
