In 2019 a group of young professional African-American broadcast engineers, and event specialists got together and found a common desire, to stand up, stepped forward, and take claim in there presents of broadcast multimedia.
This collective group of individuals decided to represent themselves as “The Collective”. In the beginning of 2020 the collective got together and held a panel discussion which was open to the public during the black heritage festival weekend.
The topics explored the pros and cons of operating in a space where few people who looked like them were excelling.
A enlightened Q&A gave participants the opportunity to ask specific job related questions and advice on careers opportunities.
The collective's mission was to bring awareness to their communities that young up-and-coming stars of the next generations could use and learn from, as experienced by those who blazed the trail before them.
The event was originally called Bridging The Gap discussion panel 1/13/2020 (Tampa Bay Black Heritage Festival) {The Collective fka The Tech Gathering}
