Description

Learning how to paint watercolor has been the most fulfilling aspect of my art career. I have learned to appreciate color in so many ways and how you can easily transform something you see into your own form of art. First, we will go over some of my everyday materials and also ones that you can use to create with. Then, we will work on basic methods of painting watercolor through, making a color wheel, layering colors, color mixing, wet-n-wet method, dry brush method and more. All these basics of watercolor can be applied to all your future watercolor fun. Next, I will also instruct you on a new way to draw using a method called, “blind contour drawing”. We will use the watercolor methods and this drawing style to create an image of Jacksonville. I will also introduce different types of paper, Cold Pressed, Hot Pressed, and Yupo paper. This workshop is to help you learn how to paint watercolor, and use the tools to create your own art for future projects. Come learn watercolor with me. I am so excited to paint with you. All supplies included. Beginners welcome!! Teresa Cook is born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. She is an Abstract Architectural Watercolor artist and has been painting watercolor since 2012. She obtained her BFA from University of North Florida in 2012. Over the last 10 years, she has been traveling to different countries as well as around her native city. She creates mini watercolor abstractions, but she has always found pleasure in the landscapes and buildings that have been created over time. Each of her watercolor and ink paintings are created on a smooth paper called, “Yupo”, are meant to capture a moment in time without the interruption of people. You will not see much human interaction within her art. She just traveled to Amsterdam for the 2019 Urban Sketchers Symposium(USK Symposium), and then Puerto Rico in 2021. She is an Art Instructor at local places here in Jacksonville, and her workshops are now in session for 2023.
