Description
Come join the Palmer Lake Historical Society as we meet Rocky Shockley & T. Duren Jones, authors of Easy Hikes to the Hidden Past: Pikes Peak Region Edition. There are excellent hiking books & many history books available for the Pikes Peak region, but our presenters will combine the two in an entertaining visual presentation. Learn about some wonderful walks, hikes & bike rides, & make discoveries of the region's-often hidden-historic past. These authors provide well-researched trail explorations with an educational "treasure hunt" for relics of times gone by that should not be forgotten. The Pikes Peak Region Edition covers Monument & Palmer Lake, Colorado Springs, Manitou Springs, Cripple Creek & Canyon City. Easy Hikes to the Hidden Past offers something for everyone, with varied physical abilities. Some discoveries can be seen from the car window as you drive through history, some can be accessed by walking or on a bike, still others by trail hiking, all of which would be classified as easy to moderate difficulty level. Trail ideas, trivia, historical photos, humor & insights. Doors open at 6:30 PM, program starts at 7:00 PM. Light refreshments will be served after the program. FREE & open to the public. We welcome other environmental nonprofits to join us to learn about these wonderful hikes. Learn about Colorado's colorful past.
