Description

Dillon Vanders’ musical origins are firmly rooted in Laurel Canyon-era classics. The Long Beach, California based songwriter grew up on a steady diet of Simon & Garfunkel and Joni Mitchell, later embracing country legends such as Johnny Cash and Marty Robbins. Recorded at Robby Krieger's (The Doors) Los Angeles studio, his debut album "Wildfires" is a microcosm melting pot of SoCal indie, vintage pop country, raspy folk songwriting, and features an impressive cast of musicians including Greg Leisz (Jackson Browne, Bruce Springteen, Lana Del Rey), Mario Calire (The Wildflowers), and Al Bonhome (Dwight Yoakam). He currently tours with his band, The Golden West. Sam Slick is a truly original folk rock artist. His songs spring from old elements of traditional songwriting with melodies that refuse to leave your head, and vocal harmonies that are almost good enough to heal anything wrong with your day. After moving to Los Angeles, the singer-songwriter released 2 full length albums and numerous singles to boot. You may hear similarities to Neil Young in his sound, Angel Olsen in his approach to songwriting, clever lyrics reminiscent of Elvis Costello, and even the balance between rowdy and sensitive youd hear from Deer Tick. In the end, Sam Slick makes his own sound unlike anything else.
