A well-drafted handbook balances the need to provide essential information with a wording and style that promote the values, communication, employee experience, and compliance goals of the organization. An HR Handbook template will be provided. You will learn: The important questions to ask before you draft your handbook, such as education level of your employees, languages spoken in the workplace, and barriers to communication.The key topics and policies that should be included in most handbooks.Topics and policies to avoid. Organizational tips; and Legal compliance issues to consider.Intended audience: This workshop is intended for HR professionals and nonprofit leaders. Presenter Samuel J. Castree, Jr. is Senior Vice President and General Counsel for Staff Management, Inc., a human resource management consulting and outsourcing firm. He is a frequent speaker on labor and employment law and human resource topics, having spoken before numerous national, regional and local organizations. He routinely conducts training on employment law, HR and management topics for small and large employers in numerous industries in the nonprofit, for-profit and public sectors. Mr. Castree received his undergraduate degree (BA Economics), graduate degree (M.A. Labor and Industrial Relations), and law degree (JD), from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Mr. Castree is also a member of the American Bar Association (Labor and Employment Law Section), Illinois State Bar Association and Winnebago County Bar Association.
