Let’s ride some waves! The production of sound involves some interesting uses of geometry. We will explore (through live demonstration) the development of synthesis through wave manipulation – what does a square moving forward in time sound like? What about a triangle? How does it all relate to instruments and the voice? Then we’ll hear what happens when you throw pitch into those shapes, throw in some math — a little about acoustics — and music as an experience. Then… we’ll collaboratively write something together and create a new music composition.
David R. Peoples writes with a ginger ale in hand on a balcony surrounded by forest. It’s from Flowery Branch, Georgia, surrounded by nature, that all his compositions begin before being released into and around the world. He just wrapped up a United States tour – a recital in every state. David actively produces albums as a leader and technologist (each containing his own compositions). Many of these albums feature a blended approach of live performance with fixed media elements (and a ton of synthesis). His works have been part of Ravello Records, Bluesilhouettes Music, Skydeck Music, and Select-O-Hits.
