Description
Two are definitely better than one! Join in with fabric enthusiasts on ongoing projects or bring in your own work for unique textile gatherings where everyone creates and explores the warp and weave of the fabric (and language). Textile enthusiasts will now have two locations to hone their skills, Saint-Luc French Immersion and Cultural Campus and NUNU Arts and Culture Collective. The purpose of Saint-Luc is on perpetuating the use of both French and Creole ...and now in the Fait à la main (Handmade) textile department, the focus will also be on quilting, tatting, crocheting, knitting, spinning, weaving, etc. The purpose is to acquire/develop skills in these heritage crafts to preserve not only the craft itself but also to help perpetuate the use of French. The purpose of NUNU is on using creativity as a means to help define the spaces where we live, so being where we're at, everything at NUNU is sprinkled with a little French and Creole. Come February with the added renovations within the new Winifred and Kevin Reilly Makerspace, participants will have access to a quilting frame, sewing machines, an encaustic hot plate, a silk screen press, and a laser cutter that can cut patterns and fabric. The purpose is to acquire/develop and diversify skills while expanding on existing skill sets. Regardless of where you go, know that If you don't speak French, you will undoubtedly pick up a few words and phrases as you pick up stitches! It is a terrific way to meet fellow stitchers, enjoy a good cup of coffee, and be productive.
