Come see tundra swans in the wetlands! Every spring, thousands of these elegant birds migrate north through the Farmington Bay Waterfowl Management Area. Please join us on March 11, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Eccles Wildlife Education Center for an amazing wildlife viewing experience! What to expect: Guided nature walks around a 1-mile loop trail.Swan crafts and activities.DWR personnel on site to answer questions and provide information on recent sightings.Other bird-viewing opportunities.*Please note: All activities and viewing opportunities for this event will take place at the Eccles Wildlife Education Center and Hasenyager Preserve. The Farmington Bay WMA has an annual closure for nesting season from March 1 to Sept. 15, and there is no foot, bicycle or motorized vehicle access beyond all closed gates in order to reduce disturbance to nesting waterfowl. Exceptions: The road from the main gate to Goose Egg Island is open year-round to vehicle access from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and visitors may hike down the Dike 1 road during these hours, as well.
