About the Artwork:
Proud to present these works that express a love and unquenchable thirst for culture! This collection features mixed mediums of fabric, digital, textured and painted art. Inspired by the beauty and complexities of black culture, these works were created to help normalize the uniqueness of Afrocentric heritage, life in urban America and how it translates into our current times.
About the Artist:
Ogi Emiabata is an artisan born and raised on Chicago's West Side. Considered by many to be a multidimensional creative, some of her passions include crafting, writing, singing, painting and sculpting. Her culturally inspired works can be found via www.aprintedsoul.com
The creative process is simple, "I make what I see in my head and in my heart without question", states Ogi. The end result is always work that is pure and feels organic. A lover of recycling/upcycling, you will see art made from things like fabric scraps to vinyl records.
Ogi is the owner of Above Average Candle Studio in North Park, where she offers themed candle making classes and creates her art.
