Your ticket reserves your spot and provides you with all the materials needed for the Mardi Gras art project that you will take home with you that evening! The artpiece will be 12x12 and the background will be pre-painted. What a fun way to use all of those beads you caught at Mardi Gras! You will be able to order food or drinks from the Loooisiana Seafood Market menu before and during the event. A portion of the event ticket proceeds supports the Highland Jazz and Blues Festival.
More about the Artist:
Deshea Guzman is a mosaic artist from Shreveport, Louisiana. A creative from a young age, Deshea dabbled in several different artistic mediums before falling in love with mosaics. She has now been working in this medium for 20 years! She uses a vibrant variety of Mardi Gras throws to create eclectic works of art. The pieces Deshea creates with the bead and doubloons are not only visual but tactile as well and are meant to be touched.
An ethusiast of all things Mardi Gras, Deshea loves king cakes, parade days, Zydeco music, but most of all - THROWS! She finds so much inspiration in the long strands of colorful jewels, opulence of Mardi Gras floats and krewes, and the revelry of paradegoers that line up, dress up, and perform for beads! Deshea loves seeing paradegoers leaving with their necks stacked full of dazzling party jewels. The whole experience is visual feast.
Deshea currently resides in Shreveport with her husband and two beautiful daughters and feels very fortunate to have the opportunity to have her studio there, raising another generation of creatives.
