The Columbus Metro Parks and the YMCA Early Childhood Resource Network + join together to offer a Woodcock Walk learning experience for individuals of all abilities. There will be a short talk about this interesting bird followed by a short walk to observe and listen to the male's ground and aerial performance to attract a mate. Location: Walnut Woods Metro Park Meet Up Point: The shelter in the Buckeye Area. Driving directions or specific instructions for finding the location: From I-270, take US 33 east toward Lancaster. Go about 1.3 miles then turn right on Hamilton Road/SR 317. Go 2.7 miles and turn left onto Main Street/Groveport Road. Go 2 miles to Lithopolis Road and turn right. The entrance to Buckeye Area is 0.75 miles on left. The park office is across the road at 6723 Lithopolis Road. Rain or Shine?: Yes. However, rain will make it less likely to see woodcock. Recommended items to bring, things to wear, etc: Walking shoes, clothing appropriate for the weather. Binoculars if you have them. Is this program wheelchair/stroller friendly?: Yes Does this program have ready access to running water? There is a restroom nearby. Is this program in the sun, shade, or other outdoor elements we should be aware of?: This program is in the evening. We will start under a shelter. What is the length of the hike? : ¼ to ½ mile.
