Description

One of the plain and precious things removed form the understanding of the Bible by the Great and Abominable Church is the reality and ongoing nature of the covenant between Jehovah and Israel. It is an everlasting covenant. The Israelites have not been cast off, they have not been replaced by the church, and all the promises made to their forefathers will be fulfilled in them and for them. This reality was realized by Joseph Smith and he continually strove to overcome the false traditions that had crept into Christianity contrary to these eternal truths. In Joseph's mind the church was a branch of Israel, and he was aiming to graft the scattered gentiles back into the house of Israel to reclaim their place as heirs of the promises made to the fathers.
