Co-founders Ericka Sinclair, MS, MPH, and Dr. Quinton Cotton of the Milwaukee Black Grassroots Network for Health Equity (MBGNHE) are hosting COVID-19 and Beyond: Whole, Healthy, and Joyful! This community report-out event showcases the importance of promoting healthy and sustainable relationships amongst organizations that are connected by trust. We will examine how a more profound understanding of personal and organizational affiliations as an interconnected ecosystem can support coordinated action.
The MKE Black Grassroots Network for Health Equity represents a collection of Black leaders and organizations building partnerships and capacity in Milwaukee to address barriers that prevent Black people from being healthy. The MBGNHE was formed in 2021 in response to worsening health disparities fueled by the COVID-19 pandemic. Central to the Network’s work is its focus on Social Justice, Healing Justice, Black Liberation, Systems Change, and adapting a Black Cultural Lens. The MBGNHE developed a Community Change Agenda, which provides information on its priorities and strategic process for changing community conditions in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA.
