Description
This 6-week program stems further than simply strengthening the muscles of the shoulder complex. The shoulder is constantly tested during our daily living activities, and even more so in workouts and throwing sports. Over six weeks, we will improve the mechanics of your shoulder and upper body through safe, meaningful, and functional exercises. We will leave you with the skills necessary to both strengthen your upper body, as well as understand the movement patterns that keep you safe and injury-free. You will also receive weekly home exercises programs to ensure you maximize your progress between classes and to serve as a reference when the class is complete. This course is an exciting, affordable, and accessible program to build shoulder and scapular strength and control. Kickstart your shoulder rehab, prevent shoulder injuries in the future, or use the class structure to continue your general upper body strengthening program in a fun environment. Our class is ideal if you are seeking more strength, control, and range of motion in your shoulders. Taught by our Lead Personal Trainer, Luke Galloway ACE-CPT, CSCS , Pn1, you will enjoy the small class size and personalized attention to your needs. As Luke has undergone a successful shoulder surgery and recovery himself, your instructor understands and empathizes with the challenges of shoulder instability and what it takes to come back stronger than ever! We are adaptive in our progressions & modifications for all of the exercises in this class, and can accommodate a range of mobility and strength needs. If you are unable to attend one of the sessions, do not let that stop you from taking advantage of this opportunity, as we offer a "make-up" class to all participants on May 2nd after the 6 -week program concludes. Our minimum requirements for you to safely participate in the class are: • Pain-free weight-bearing in both hands or fists and knees, as well as with your hands or fists on a knee-height table • Flexion active range of motion to 120 degrees (can reach hands above head) • No acute joint inflammation that would be exacerbated by physical activity (i.e. acute arthitis of shoulder joint, frozen shoulder, etc) *Most wrist issues can be worked around with modifications in this course* • Absence of unstable cardiovascular function requiring medication for relief (i.e. unstable angina, poor reaction to cardiovascular stress tests, etc) *If you are unsure whether you meet these requirements, please email [email protected] to receive our Medical Release Form. This single page document can be completed and signed by your doctor to ensure a successful and safe experience. Pre-Participation Checklist: Prior to the onset of the class, each individual will complete an upper-extremity functional outcome survey which will aid as a before and after improvement measure for the class, and a photo/video release form to share highlights of our workouts with our community on Facebook and Instagram. These documents will be provided on the first day of class, so be sure to show up 5-10 minutes early to complete them. Completion of the medical release form is strongly recommended for individuals who are not currently enrolled in a course of care at CorePhysio and have health issues that are potentially complicated by exercise. Classes start Tuesday March 21st at 6pm and recur every Tuesday for 6 weeks, followed by a complimentary make-up class on May 2nd. Register today to reserve your place.
