As a. thank you to Trinity Church for over 15 years of supporting the Choir’s concerts, it is offering this new and rarely heard music for an afternoon of spiritual jazz free of charge. The jazz trio is led by Berkshire native John Sauer, a talented piano player and bandleader. He is a member of the Williams College faculty as the music director and accompanist for the dance troop, CODA. He has a lifetime of music, theater, and world class dance projects at Jacobs Pillow touring with Mark Morris Contemporary Dance Troop on their worldwide tour. His piano playing range is endless, from Classical, free form jazz to contemporary pop and so much more. Stephen Dankner has composed over 145 major works in all genres including chamber music for Close Encounters with Music and the Berkshire Symphony. The Cantilena Chamber Choir, now in its 19th season, is comprised of 24 dedicated singers of the highest caliber who possess vocal training, excellent sight-reading skills and considerable choral experience. Its accolades include a multi-year Cultural Portfolio grant award from the Massachusetts Cultural Council for its annual Martin Luther King program and two Choral Arts New England Alfred Nash Patterson awards for innovative programming. The Choir is under the direction of Andrea Goodman whose appearances have included the Aspen Music Festival in Colorado, the Fribourg Festival de Musique Sacree in Fribourg, Switzerland, and the Singing World Festival and Festival of White Nights in St. Petersburg, Russia.
