Presented by Levi Wilson, VP of Design for Hammerton Lighting.
Glass is an ideal design material for decorative lighting! It incorporates form, shape, texture, light and color in a versatile medium with endless design possibilities. Glass can transform a light fixture into a work of art, but the reality is that most decorative lighting deploys glass solely for the functional purpose of diffusing light, adding little design value.
Understanding the various glass manufacturing methods, properties and applications will help you make more thoughtful material and design choices when developing decorative lighting plans for your clients.
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:
• Understand the difference between machine production glass and artisan glass
• Identify the various types of artisan glass materials that can be used in decorative lighting
• Understand the applications, opportunities and limitations of each material based on their fabrication process and characteristics
• Explain the design potential of each material in lighting design
Lunch and refreshments will be provided. 1.0 CEU Credit.
