Building Mittleider Beds We all know Texas soil isn’t wonderful, but that isn't going to keep you from growing an amazing garden. In this session you will learn how to construct a raised bed with trellis and water system from start to finish. Starting Your Own Seedlings Successful growing begins with proper seed selection and germination techniques. This unit will teach you how to save money, grow better plants and take control of the entire process. You'll receive a seed tray of heirloom seeds or seedlings for your garden, along with clear instructions on how to take care of them. Garden Like A Pro How do we garden year round? How can you garden organically and still be productive? How and when do you transplant seedlings? What spacing should you use? What sort of nutrition do the plants need? How do you avoid fungal diseases and bugs? How much food production can you expect? What are the most productive plants for this area? These and many other gardening issues will be addressed. Seed Saving Techniques In this unit, we’ll demystify the entire seed-saving process by demonstrating how to properly save tomatoes, squash and many other vegetable varieties. You'll learn how to avoid GMOs and maintain the purity of your seed lines by preventing cross-pollination from your neighbor's garden. Seed storage issues will also be discussed.
