This workshop is a practical guide for educators interested in implementing trauma-informed practices and restorative practices into their classrooms as an approach that proactively creates a safe environment, focuses on building relationships, and teaches students how to self-regulate their emotions so they can be the best version of themselves while learning. In doing so, we will review trauma and its effects on the brain, understand the whys and hows of trauma, develop a toolbelt of trauma-informed practices, and take a deeper diver into Restorative Practices to show how they promote strong interpersonal relationships and community building and provide students with meaningful opportunities to be accountable for their actions and responsible for helping to make their school a safe and nurturing place.
