Hi, My name is Sadie Kirk and I am a Senior at Parkview. I'm sure a lot of you have had me in your class over the past four years. I was diagnosed with epilepsy when I was four years old. I am an Epilepsy Ambassador with the Epilepsy Foundation and currently working toward my Girl Scout Gold Award and AP Research Project based on Epilepsy Awareness and Seizure First Aid. My goal is to break the stigma behind this disorder and educate my school community about epilepsy and seizures.
I understand that your time is VERY precious and know that it's a lot to ask on a day that you are getting off work early. However, I would like to invite each of you to attend a one hour training after parent/teacher conferences on February 17th. I will be providing lunch for all those who sign up and attend. There will be drawings for door prizes and the training will count toward PD hours.
I am working with Rep. Denise Ennett and the Epilepsy Foundation Arkansas Advocacy Committee to get the Seizure Safe Schools Bill passed in the state of Arkansas. The bill will be going to the Education Committee Thursday, February 16th and I will have the opportunity to speak on behalf of this bill. If this bill is passed, school personnel in Arkansas will be required to have Seizure Safe School Training. If you attend my training you will already be trained and have a certificate as proof.
If you have any questions regarding the training, please contact me at [email protected].
Please respond to this eventbrite by Wednesday, February 15th and I will send you a link to take a short pre-test to save time before the training.
