Join us for a presentation from Eric Fuselier on which native plants to include in community gardens and urban agriculture. Registration is required (click tickets). One of the advantages of native plants is that they’re already adapted to the local soil and climate and require less water and fertilizer than many cultivated species. There are also many native species that are edible and medicinal and can easily be grown in a garden setting. In this program, you’ll learn which native plant species are ideal for community gardens and urban agriculture, the parts of these species that can be harvested for food or medicine, and tips for how to harvest and prepare them. About Eric Fuselier: Eric Fuselier is an Environmental Project Manager in Crafton Tull's Rogers office. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental, Soil, and Water Science from the University of Arkansas, and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Louisiana Tech University. Eric has extensive knowledge of wetland science, soil science, and botany, and is a certified Professional Wetland Scientist. Eric is the President of the Arkansas Native Plant Society. He is an Executive Board Member of the South Central Chapter of the Society of Wetland Scientists, and serves as President of the Board of Directors for the Ozark Natural Science Center. He is also a member of the National Association of Environmental Professionals (NAEP) and the Society for Ecological Restoration (SER).
