The Appalachian Mountains have always inspired adventure and creativity. From the clouded peaks to the darkest hollers, people for generations have been creating music inspired by the sights, sounds, and lifestyle of the hills, but it's not just banjos anymore… Landmarks of DeKalb County, Inc. invites you to Throw an Appalachia! at the historic Fort Payne Opera House. This showcase will feature artists from throughout the Appalachian region, from Pennsylvania to right here in Fort Payne, presenting their songs and stories. All artists will also have merchandise for sale in Hunt Hall following the show. LINEUP TO BE ANNOUNCED SOON! This event will be a fundraiser for a new sprinkler system for Fort Payne Opera House. Recent events in DeKalb County have proven the importance of fire protection when it comes to historic preservation. Fort Payne Opera House is the second oldest building in the Fort Payne Historic District, and we must all chip in to ensure its place as an independent venue for the visual arts and music. All proceeds will go to a new, remotely monitored fire response system that will help prevent a disaster at one of our county's greatest showplaces. While tickets are just $10.00, we encourage you to give as you can to help continue Landmarks' mission of "Saving our Past for Future Generations."
