Ahkil has touched the lives of many small doers and makers in Sellwood, opening his doors for artists to have shows, neighboring wine bars to have a place to wash dishes, family run taco stands on his patio in the height of the pandemic, and giving his back room to a tiny little health food cafe that had only a dream as operating capital - a dream that is near and dear to our hearts. Ahkil did this all out of a desire to support his community, and never asked for a return, often refusing one when offered.
Now, it's our time to return the favor.
In early January Ahkil had a stroke while working at his restaurant. The unfortunate truth of many, if not most, small restaurant owner operators is a lack of health insurance, and his medical bills are mounting. His friends and longtime customers have stepped up to keep the place running, and his old chef Cody has returned to the stoves.
We are honored to have this chance to give back, and to give you all what you have been craving, a full-on Bastion Dinner!
We will be taking over the dining room and kitchens at Relish the night of Friday February 24, from 5:30 - 8:30pm. Marne & Team will be bringing the Bastion ethos and standards to a full dining room (with a full kitchen in the back!)
Best yet... All proceeds will be going to directly to Akhil. We get to feed you and help a dear friend! It's a win-win!
