Description

Gather your magic and join Parlour favorite Rissa Miller on a walk through time as we visit a Quaker court; wander the woods to gather healing herbs; stand at the Lancaster gallows; meet mysterious beasts by the river; sit across the table from most-wanted palm readers; and come all the way into the 1920s for a world-famous case of murder and betrayal. Every state has a story when it comes to witchcraft; Pennsylvania is no exception. While the Keystone state has no claims quite like Salem (thankfully), we have legends and lore worth noting. The history is witches is often a closer look at a place's way of seeing women and people from other cultures in past communities. This is where our evening will begin... Brewed beverages as well as other tasty offerings will be part of the evening. Please note, this is an exploration of the region's relationship over the past several centuries with what can loosely be called witches and/or magic. Public outlook on this changes with time. The nature of witchcraft itself is less the focus of this program, and no effort will be made to define any religious or spiritual practice. Due to the nature of this programs's content, it is not recommended for audience members under the age of 18. Rissa Miller is an editor, author, herbalist, seer, and storyteller. Her storytelling expertise stems from extensive research into the area of esoteric history, including ghosts, witchcraft, cryptids, and folklore. Rissa believes most the most enduring stories teach us not only about humanity's past, but also give reason to reflect on our own present beliefs and realities. Refunds for advance tickets will only be available until 72 hours before the event. At that time, all sales are final as food/beverage/supplies will be purchased. If you find you cannot make it and it's past the 72-hour deadline, please give your ticket to a friend. Parking is on-street. Please give yourself ample time to park and walk to the event. Event is indoors and will go on in any weather. Weather would only shut event down if York City shuts down due to weather emergency.
