Description
If you’re familiar with Fetty’s Street Food, you already know Chef Damian Ettish. From his native Cape Town to the bustle of London, and extended stints throughout Southeast Asia, his innovative take on traditional Indian, Thai, and Chinese favorites are the fusion cuisine we didn’t know we were missing. However, even fans of his eponymous food truck may not know how deep the roots of barbecue run in South Africa. Better known as “braai”, in addition to meticulous meat preparation, equal attention is given to the selection of wood, from which each dish derives its distinct flavor and aroma. But that wood is more than just fuel for the fire. It creates a gathering place where stories are shared, and connections with family and friends are rekindled long into the night. The “braaimaster” is also more than the host. It’s his exclusive duty to keep the flames and conversation going, an implicit understanding echoed in the local saying, “Jy krap nie aan ‘n ander man se vuur nie” — or “You don’t mess around wit another man’s fire. It’s a fitting caveat for a kitchen takeover. Fresh from his victory at the second Ray Ray’s Chef Scrap, free from the constraints of time and ingredients, Ettish shares all of his influences with the supper club over four courses, each paired with just the right alcoholic (or non-alcoholic) elixir. Seating is limited for this international evening of cross-continental comfort food. Fetty is ready, are you? Join us as Chef Damian Ettish comes into the supper club with his South African cuisine through 4 courses. Ticket includes alcohol pairings thru the evening. *There will be two seatings: 1st at 6:00-7:30, and the 2nd will be from 8:30-10:00.
