Ash Wednesday marks the start of Lent and that small mark of ashes on a person's forehead serves as a subtle, yet real reminder of their mortality and penitence. This is Saint Mark’s Episcopal Church’s sixth year offering the Ash & Dash experience. We do it to allow commuters who aren’t able to attend Ash Wednesday worship service (because of work commitments or other physical challenges that kept them from standing in church for too long) to still participate. Ash Wednesday and Lent are more relevant than ever as we face ongoing strife, disease, disaster, violence, and war. We are reminded of our common humanity and the invitation to transform ourselves, our communities, and the world. Ash Wednesday is grounded in the hope of the resurrection of Jesus Christ - whose way is LOVE.
