You, Your School District, Your CommunityJoin us for a panel discussion exploring how the school district and community partners collaborate to prepare students for the 21st-century workforce and life after school. Learn first-hand from students, the School District of Palm Beach County, the Peter Blum Family YMCA, and West Boca Medical Center and discover how these students are prepared to be hired by you! Meet the Moderator and Panelists:Frank Barbieri was born and raised in Akron, Ohio and moved to Boca Raton, Florida in 1984. He was elected to the Palm Beach County School Board in 2008 to represent District 5, the district that includes all of the schools in West Boca Raton and the city of Boca Raton, as well as other parts of Palm Beach County. He previously served as School Board Chair in 2010-2011, Vice Chair in 2013-2014, and now once again holds the position of Board Chair. ----- Katalina Abreu is a junior at West Boca Raton Community High School, and enrolled in the Medical Academy and AICE diploma program. She also works part-time at the YMCA as a membership representative. Previously, she started as a YMCA volunteer. She is currently studying to get her EMR (emergency medical responder), CET (certified electrocardiogram technician), and PT (personal trainer) certifications. In addition to HOSA, she is a member of the National Honor Society, Science Honor Society, Math Honor Society, Science Honor Society, and Key Club. During her time at West Boca she has been awarded with 2 Academic Excellence Awards, Scholar Award, and the Principal’s Award. Ultimately, she plans to be a part time prenatal/postnatal trainer and maternal-fetal surgeon. Nadilia Charles is a Program Planner in the Department of Multicultural Education for the School District of Palm Beach County. She holds a B.A. in English Literature, a M.Ed in Education, and a M. Ed in Guidance and Counseling. Nadilia was awarded Palm Beach County School District High School Counselor of the Year in 2012. She has worked as an educator for twenty-three years in the following capacities: middle and high school English teacher, high school ESOL Bilingual Bi-cultural School Counselor, ESOL Coordinator, and ESOL Instructional Specialist. She is a Youth Mental Health First Aid trainer. George Rizzuto is the CEO of West Boca Medical Center and oversees all strategic, financial, operational, clinical and quality activities at the hospital. He has more than 35 years of healthcare leadership experience, having worked in the Non-Profit and Investor Owned healthcare sectors and large Teaching Institutions as well as Community Hospital settings. Jason Hagensick joined the YMCA of South Palm Beach County as President and Chief Executive Officer in July 2016. In this role, Jason is responsible for all YMCA facilities and programs, including the Peter Blum Family YMCA of Boca Raton, the DeVos-Blum FamilyYMCA of Boynton Beach, the YMCA@901 NCCI in Boca Raton and the YMCA of South Palm Beach County.
