Description
This course will address home modifications for accessibility and aging in place. You'll learn what they are and how they can be implemented in your home. Students will learn about high-risk fall areas in the home and some low-tech options to implement to help age in place safely. We will discuss the pros to implementation of home mods, including saving money, planning for chronic or progressive disease, intergenerational living, and "visitability." Opportunities for students to join the discussion will be spread throughout. This course is geared toward anyone with an interest in accessibility design, universal design, and aging in place. Students will gain insight into areas where they may want to make changes, as well as attaining an introductory understanding of the many home modification options available and what you can do to prepare to age in place.
