The CCSF & Macy's Upstyle Academy Scholarship Awards will showcase upcycled one-of-a-kind looks from Macy's clothing samples by CCSF fashion students. Guests will receive a gift bag (while supplies last) and enjoy beats by DJ Snick at Night while mingling with the designers and viewing their fabulous creations up close on mannequins. The competition winners will be announced at 5:30 pm. The in-store event is free, but you must RSVP on Eventbrite. We hope to see you there! The CCSF & Macy’s Upstyle Academy is a fashion design and merchandising scholarship competition allowing CCSF fashion students to collaborate and apply creativity and innovation to a mission-driven project. Using clothing samples supplied by Macy’s, students upcycle, design, and style one-of-a-kind head-to-toe looks to draw attention to the importance and beauty of sustainability. Sustainability is of the utmost importance to CCSF fashion students and the retail industry. Our goal with Upstyle Academy is to bring awareness to the sustainability movement while: Inspiring Fashion Design and Merchandising students to think about ways to upcycle pieces and reimagine the future of fashion. Preparing Fashion Design and Merchandising students for entrepreneurship and retail collaboration. Allowing Fashion Design and Merchandising students to partner and apply creativity and innovation to a project supporting upcycling at its core. Fostering the professional development of Fashion Design and Merchandising students through experiential learning beyond the classroom. Monetary scholarship awards will serve as seed money for students to support their continued studies or business endeavors. The Fashion Department at City College of San Francisco is dedicated to teaching the requisite skills needed for success in all aspects of the fashion industry. The curricula provide specialized programs and training geared toward career advancement and employment in the fashion design and merchandising arenas. Internships, guest lectures, industry-sponsored projects, and field trips offer experiential learning opportunities.
