Description

To realize the mission of Camp Read-a-Rama “to make the U.S. more literate, one child and one book at a time,” we seek to train those in educational institutions, libraries, and other youth-facing organizations across the country who want to get children excited about reading. Camp Read-a-Rama’s training (6-8 hours) prepares educators, librarians, and others who want to bring Camp Read-a-Rama programs to their communities. The hands-on, interactive training walks attendees through the process of choosing a theme, books, and activities, while it gives you the experience of 100% engagement that campers get in the program. Instruction in cultural competence and trauma-informed care will help participants frame the camp program for their diverse communities.
