The CNY Women's Summit is organized by the CNY Women's Network. The purpose of this event is to celebrate, inspire, and connect our local business women. This event is open to women from all professional backgrounds, no matter what phase they are at in their career. The CNY Women's Summit serves as a launching pad for company owners seeking new employees, recent graduates seeking professional mentors, and everything in between. What did the event look like last year? On March 8th, 2022 from 5-8 pm at The OnCenter, we celebrated International Women's Day alongside 200 women with a cocktail hour, 45 minutes of structured networking, and an hour long thought-provoking panel discussion with 6 distinguished women from our community. Will it be the same this year? Yes... and no. After gathering some feedback from last year's events, we decided to do things a little bit differently. We will still do cocktails, hors d'ouvres, and structured networking (the structured networking was a huge hit!). Instead of an hour-long panel discussion, we decided to include a 30-minute motivational speech from a woman who has broken glass ceilings within a male-dominated industry. We are still deciding between a few! We are also inviting all of our local, woman-owned businesses to participate as vendors at a Pop Up Trade Show! We think these changes will give attendees a more exciting and engaging experience. This year, we have chosen to donate profits amongst all of the Region 9 DECA Clubs of CNY. This regional chapter represents nine high school chapters and is located in Central New York. The schools with chapters are: East Syracuse-Minoa, Liverpool, Henninger, Homer, Jamesville-Dewitt, Paul V. Moore, Phoenix, Skaneateles, Solvay, and Westhill. DECA is a nationally recognized club for high schools to implement an entrepreneurship program that aims to help prepare students for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, and more. Our mission through this event is to connect business-minded women from all generations. We hope to encourage, support, and lift up CNY's next generation of female entrepreneurs. Who is the CNY Women's Network? A company centered around connection instead of profits. Founded by Alex + Amy Canavan, the mother/daughter duo hopes to support + grow Central New York's entrepreneurial ecosystem. The CNYWN operates with a focus on female entrepreneurship for their annual CNY Women's Summit, but they also support entrepreneurs across the board (male, female, non-binary) through their 'Monthly Mingle's.
