Description

Difficulty: Moderate, with some rocky inclines with uneven surfaces Pace: Slow Appropriate for: All Hike Leader: Boot Boutwell About Boot: Roland “Boot” Boutwell, a freelance itinerant naturalist, has been leading nature walks for The Friends of the Fells for nearly 25 years. He has also led walks and/or taught botany programs for a number of other organizations including The Trustees of Reservations, Arlington Community Education, The Massachusetts Association of Conservation Commissions, Winchester public schools, Wright-Locke Farm in Winchester, The New England Wild Flower Society and the Massachusetts Audubon Society. About the Hike: Come celebrate the approach of spring with a slow-paced late winter walk. We’ll begin with a little poetry and then head out into the woods around Greenwood Park to enjoy the beauty of nature. As usual, the walk will focus on plant identification and natural history. If there is any snow on the ground, we will see if we can identify a few common animal tracks. Please dress for the weather. There is no bad weather . . . only improper clothing. Meet in the Greenwood Park parking area, 176 Pond St across from the Stone Zoo in Stoneham. Steady rain or heavy snow cancels. Contact: Boot Boutwell (781-729-4712) or [email protected]
