Description

While oil and gas jobs are frequently invoked by politicians and business executives alike, regular workers are not typically consulted. The True Transition Worker’s Roundtable will feature Louisiana workers who will speak directly to their working conditions, compensation, and hopes for the industry. From oil and gas production to pipeline construction to refinery operation, Louisiana's oil and gas workers are a highly specialized workforce. Offshore wind in the Gulf of Mexico is just getting off of the ground and the federal dollars are just hitting Baton Rouge to plug Louisiana's thousands of orphaned oil and gas wells. Workers will discuss how they view these developments and how Louisiana workers can be best prepared to benefit. We hope the forum will be the first of many conversations where Louisiana oil and gas workers can candidly discuss the problems they face and begin to secure a seat at the table for the future of Louisiana’s economy.
