Wood engraving is the ideal medium for adding illustrations to letterpress cards, artist's books, broadsides, or to create a stand-alone image because of its fine details and bold woodcut features. Take home a collaborative poster with a summer theme after learning how to carve your own unique drawings into end-grain hardwood blocks! Basic material knowledge, picture creation and transfer, engraving, and proofing will all be covered in the instruction. All skill levels are welcome; prior drawing expertise is not necessary. Participants are need to bring a 2 x 3 inch drawing to class; alternatively, there will be public domain photos available for tracing. No prior experience is necessary; minimum age is 18.
