Description

As a therapist, I have had the honor of working with hundreds of women in their journey to healing within the therapeutic space. Over the course of my work, I have found several common themes that are more predominant to women that prevent them from realizing their worth and potential. Common belief systems derived from childhood experiences and societal messaging keep women racing towards a finish line that can never be reached. Recognizing and challenging these beliefs can help us dismantle and shed these unrealistic expectations that keep us stuck and prevent us from realizing that we are truly “good enough”.  At Good Life Therapy we serve our community by providing compassionate, culturally responsive, trauma informed counseling services.  As therapists, we acknowledge and honor the inner wisdom inherent to each individual. We partner with our clients to foster empowerment and self compassion in their journey to healing. We are an open and affirming practice with clinicians who celebrate acceptance, diversity, and collaboration with clients and colleagues.  We value safety, dignity, and the pursuit of a good life. Anna Zuidema, MA, LMHC, NCC I graduated from Northwestern University's Master’s of Clinical Mental Health Counseling program in 2018. Prior to that I received my B.A in Sociology from Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts (2006). As a counselor, I work with adults using Person Centered and Psychodynamic approaches to help facilitate change and growth through increased insight and awareness into the impact of past experiences and beliefs on present thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I also work to incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Positive Psychology, and Mindfulness approaches that are tailored to your specific treatment goals and values. I specialize in mood disorders, trauma, adjustment issues, and chronic pain. I am trained in both EMDR and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), both evidence based interventions used to treat PTSD and reduce distress related to other traumatic events. Outside of my own practice, I am contracted with the Central Iowa Trauma Recovery Center in Des Moines, where I provide individual counseling services for victims of crime in Iowa. Anna accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance and also offers a direct rate.  Email: [email protected] Phone: 515-679-3947 Visit: https://www.goodlifetherapyia.com/mentalhealthservices
