Event Overview Network with your peers while learning about local trade associations and organizations making a difference in our industry during this fun, interactive, industry showcase and happy hour hosted by Women in NECA Twin Cities in conjunction with NAWIC and Women in Construction Week 2023. This year’s Women in Construction Week theme is “Many Paths, One Mission.” As such, we will be showcasing local organizations who may be on different paths but share the same mission of making a difference in the construction industry through their: diversity and inclusion initiativeseducation and training opportunities for women and minoritiesconstruction career recruitment efforts trade mentorship programs, and youth outreach programsThis year’s exhibitor line-up includes: Building Strong Communities: A multi-trade apprenticeship preparatory program that will prepare you for a career in the construction industry.Lake Street Works: A two-year workforce development program to prepare 11th and 12th grade students with the life skills, character development, and trade experience necessary for a promising career in the construction industry. Through their enhanced earning capacity, and personal work ethic, they can break out of generational poverty. NAWIC: The National Association of Women in Construction is dedicated to enhancing the success of women in the construction industry by building educations, careers, futures and lives.Power Girls / Girl Scouts River Valleys: A unique all-girl, year-round trades program. The Power Girls program gives girls a chance to practice trades skills like construction, learn from female mentors, and see themselves in trades careers.Learn2Build: Provides construction career exposure for middle school youth by offering activity kits, hands on events such as construction camps and afterschool programming, and resources for teachers to use in their own classrooms.Construct Tomorrow: Construct Tomorrow was founded in 2013 to bring awareness to high school students about the remarkable post-secondary career opportunities in the construction and building trades industries. Since then, Construct Tomorrow has connected with 50,000 students from more than 100 high schools across the state of Minnesota through experiential, hands-on learning activities that feature the construction trades. Students who attend a Construct Tomorrow event receive practical, one-on-one advice from experienced trades professionals, and from current apprentices -- young men and women not much older than the students themselves -- who are thriving in apprenticeship programs.3M: As a supplier and innovator in the construction industry, 3M has set out to drive workforce representation, a culture of belonging, and equitable outcomes for its employees, businesses and communities through impactful social justice, diversity, equity & inclusion, and 3Mgives initiatives.Dunwoody College: Dunwoody is on a mission to empower women to earn technical degrees to eliminate barriers for women to enter and succeed in technical industries.
