Join us at our NEW LOCATION (Valley Mall in the Upstairs Mezzanine (2529 Main Street Union Gap, WA 98903) for an evening of networking and hear from Judge Sonia Rodriguez True of the Yakima County Superior Court. ABOUT THE FEATURED SPEAKER: A graduate of the Annie Wright School in Tacoma, Judge Sonia Rodriguez True earned her BA and Law degrees at the University of Washington, and in 2000, moved to Yakima where she later began a law practice focused on juvenile and family law as well as a variety of other complex legal matters. Judge Rodriguez True has been very active in the Yakima community for the past 22 years. She served for a year on the Yakima City Council and has been a member of several boards, including Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital, United Way of Central Washington where she served as Board Chair, Yakima Federal Savings & Loan Association, YMCA and YWCA. She was instrumental in developing creative gang intervention strategies as part of her work on the City of Yakima's Gang Reduction and Intervention Task Force, as well as other non-profit organizations. Currently, she is a Board Member of Downtown Rotary and OIC of Washington. Awards she has received are many: the Governor’s Award of Excellence, City of Yakima Distinguished Service Award, YWCA Citizen of the Year, Volunteer Attorney Services Volunteer of the Year, Southeast Yakima Community Center Make a Difference Award, MLK Spirit of the Dream Award, and the Latino Professional Association Meritorious Award. In 2021, Rep. Dan Newhouse selected her for an Angel in Adoption Award. She just received the 2023 Casey Family Programs Excellence for Children Leadership Award. Before her 2022 appointment to the Yakima County Superior Court bench, Judge Rodriguez True served the Court for over a year as a Court Commissioner. She and her husband, Patrick, a local attorney, reside in Yakima where they have opened their home to more than 20 trauma affected children over the past 10 years.
