Music is at the cornerstone of Black Culture. From drum circles to Hip Hop cyphers, Black people have used music as a form of communication, therapy, resistance and recreation. In keeping with the rich history, and cultural significance of sound in the Black community we are excited to offer a fun and immersive sound bowl experience. This session will be led by three certified sound bowl instructor and master workshop facilitators, The Outdoor Journal Tour. The experience will feature a playful yet informative sound bath and drum circle followed by a journaling and “sound off” share circle. ABOUT OUR EVENT FACILITATORS Kenya and Michelle Jackson-Saulters are the founders of the Outdoor Journal Tour, a hybrid health organization that combines the healing benefits of the Great Outdoors with introspective journaling and mindful meditation. They are headquartered in Atlanta, GA and the creators of international outdoor wellness phenomenon #wehiketoheal. Last year, they spearheaded the Mindful Minutes program, a nationwide challenge designed to encourage more mindfulness in our everyday lives. Most recently, Kenya has authored a best-selling outdoor activity companion, The Nature Meditations Deck. Together the two have hosted over 100 events for women around the country and organized 6 annual #wehiketoheal campaigns. She founded InnerG Vibrations in June of 2020, where it is her vision & mission to help individuals and communities around the globe raise their vibrations to resonate with their I-N-N-E-R-G……Inner God, Inner Goddess, Inner Guidance, Inner Gratitude, Inner Grace, and Inner Gangsta as a result of mindfulness, meditation, energetic healing and sound therapy. Taranda has guided many beautiful souls on sound journeys at various healing retreats, sister circles, & other sacred events. She is based out of Augusta, GA but is happy to travel upon request. Taranda can be booked for private one-on-one, couples, & group sound healing sessions. She can also be booked for sound baths at the Sol Himalayan Salt Cave & Spa in Augusta, GA. Her sound baths feature crystal & metallic singing bowls, crystal pyramid, rain sticks, ocean drum, shamanic drum, gong, & chimes, all which give off healing sounds, frequencies, & vibrations combined with intentions for deep rest, relaxation, & healing of the mind, body, & spirit. Oyah Kheperu || Sensory, Sound Bowl Oyah Kheperu,is a NASM certified personal trainer, Exercise Nutrition Coach, Behavior Specialist and Sound Practitioner. From the young age of 6, fitness has been a major part of her life! As such, she participated in both golf & competitive swimming. Over the years, athletics have not only improved her physical fitness, but also her confidence. Over time, through her own journey of fitness she discovered a passion to guide others to lead a more productive lifestyle through fitness and mindfulness. This started with holding space for sound meditations and building a large community of women who craved a deeper practice when it came to mindfulness and mental clarity. Now through the lens of her custom wellness program, the WELLKHEP Method, she helps career women overcome restriction mindset and limiting beliefs through meditation, sound healing, and fitness. Oyah has a BS in Biology. Jeremy Dalton || Sensory, Drums Jeremy Dalton is a gifted musician with more than 20 years’ experience playing a variety of instruments in healing and therapeutic settings. Trained as a percussionist, he’s played with international gospel singers and bands since he was a teen. Inspired by his own journey through depression and anxiety back to mental health, Jeremy endeavors to share his love of music as a form of connection and healing, as well as a tool to enhance wellbeing and happiness. Since 2017, alongside the direction of his mentors, Jeremy has dedicated himself to the art of rest + recovery through sound healing techniques and instruments including crystal sound bowls, gongs, shamanic drums, chimes, and more. He has had the opportunity to create unique soundscapes and spaces for private events and public organizations. His credits include performances for world-class wellness events and organizations including: The Center for Love + Light, Sound Apothecary, Yellow Mat Wellness, KIPP Schools, Bali Spirit Music Festival (rescheduled to 2021 due to COVID-19) and more.
