The Gender Equality Initiative in International Affairs invites you to our 2023 International Women’s Day Event and Reception featuring Azar Nafisi, renowned Iranian-American author of Reading Lolita in Tehran and Read Dangerously, amongst other books. Nafisi will discuss the women-led protests in Iran and her experiences as a feminist and an Iranian woman in exile. Her keynote address will be followed by a student-led Q&A. About Azar Nafisi Azar Nafisi is the critically acclaimed author of Reading Lolita in Tehran, a New York Times bestseller that is published in thirty-two languages. Nafisi is also known for her other works including, Things I’ve Been Silent About, The Republic of Imagination, and That Other World: Nabokov and the Puzzle of Exile. She most recently published Read Dangerously: The Subversive Power of Literature in Troubled Times in March 2022. She has held various teaching posts across the world including at Johns Hopkins University, Oxford University, Free Islamic University, and Allameh Tabatabai. She resides in Washington D.C.
