Join us for the 1st Annual Black Women's Health & Wellness Legislative Advocacy Day spotlighting The Wellness Collaborative, Inc. and Mindful + Melanated on Monday, February 13, 2023, from 11:00 am - 3:00 pm in the Great Hall of Flags at the State House in Boston. This event is FREE and open to the public. Hosted by State Representative Bud L. Williams, House Chair of the Joint Committee on Racial Equity, Civil Rights, and Inclusion in partnership with Senator Liz Miranda, Senator Lydia Edwards, Representative Brandy Fluker-Oakley, and Representative Chynah Tyler, the goal of the Black Women's Health & Wellness Legislative Advocacy Day is to engage in a much-needed discussion around the health issues concerning Black and Brown women in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. With a moderated panel discussion and an open Q&A, this event will focus on physical and mental health issues concerning Women of Color (WOC). The discussion will be moderated by Nieisha Deed, founder of PureSpark and the panelists will include: Karen Craddock, co-founder of The Wellness Collaborative, Inc.Jeannette Callahan, co-founder of The Wellness Collaborative, Inc.Regina Renaye, founder of Mindful + MelanatedCarmen Blyden, Confidence & Wellness Coach, Owner of Healthy Energy Actively Living (HEAL)Our legislative guest panelists are the ONLY self-identified Black women who hold elected offices in the Massachusetts State House: Senator Liz MirandaSenator Lydia EdwardsRepresentative Brandy Fluker-OakleyRepresentative Chynah TylerWe will be discussing: The central role of behavioral mental health in ALL issues of health/wellness for Black and Brown womenThe importance of community voice in understanding how to access health/wellness services that meet our needsLegislation related to issues of health/wellness for Black and Brown women and the importance of working with our policymakers (elected officials)When you join us you will have an opportunity to engage in real-time conversations with panelists, practitioners, elected officials and your fellow community members.
