THIS IS AN IN-PERSON WORKSHOP - MASKS WILL BE REQUIRED
A growth mindset is a belief that we can get smarter through hard work and practice. Having a growth mindset means understanding that intelligence can be developed vs. the belief that it is fixed (either I’m good at math or not).
We want our students to understand that struggling with something difficult doesn’t mean you're not smart; instead it’s a chance to grow your intelligence by using the right strategies. Developing a growth mindset means trying hard, getting the help you need, and utilizing different approaches to work through a problem when it’s getting you down.
In this workshop, students will learn:
- What a growth mindset is and why it matters
- What we can do when we get frustrated
- What words and approaches we can use to help “push through” frustration.
We will also introduce some new strategies that will be helpful for chunking work, reading, and will provide each student structures to ensure that there is adequate time to get homework done.
