Description
Invasive species removal is at the forefront of restoration efforts in our Iowa woodlands. Spend your time on the frontline of this continuous battle as we remove non-native plant species to protect the next generation of oaks, bring back native wildflowers, and other valuable species improving nesting sites and food sources for wildlife. This restoration work also reduces soil erosion and sedimentation to Easter Lake which improves water quality. Volunteers will learn how to properly identify invasive species, the techniques to remove them, and about the resulting benefits of this important conservation work along the pond shoreline of Fort Des Moines Park.
