Join MA alumnus Brandon Nicholson ‘01 and MA parents Sarah Friar (Izzy ‘23, Mac ‘25) and Christina Kosmowski (Anja ‘23, Ali ‘25) as they speak with moderator George Lee (former Trustee, MA parent, Izzy ‘16, Livy ‘17), about the diverse pathways and unique journeys that resulted in their leading some of the most exciting and innovative organizations around. They will reflect on how they ended up where they are and will offer thoughts about the future of work and what it means to be a leader in an increasingly interconnected and dynamic world. Sarah Friar Sarah Friar is Chief Executive Officer of Nextdoor, the world’s largest private social network for neighborhoods. She is also the co-founder of Ladies Who Launch, an organization supporting female-run small businesses. Friar formerly served as Chief Financial Officer at Square. Under her leadership, the company launched its initial public offering in 2015 and added $30 billion in market capitalization. Before her tenure at Square, Friar served as Senior Vice President of Finance & Strategy at Salesforce. She also held executive roles at Goldman Sachs, as well as leadership positions at McKinsey in both London and South Africa. Friar sits on the boards of Walmart and Consensys. Sarah grew up in Northern Ireland and earned her Master of Engineering (MEng) in Metallurgy, Economics, and Management from the University of Oxford and her MBA from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business. She is the parent of two current MA students. Christina Kosmowski Christina serves as CEO at LogicMonitor, the cloud-based infrastructure monitoring and observability platform provider. Christina has spent nearly two decades holding leadership positions in the enterprise software space. She established her career creating customer success at Salesforce – where she helped it grow from $20 million to almost $10 billion in revenue – and Slack, where she scaled from $90 million to $1 billion in revenue. Kosmowski sits on the board of Rapid7. Christina holds a BS in Industrial Engineering from Northwestern University, where she was Captain of the Varsity Soccer Team. She serves on the MA Board of Trustees and is the parent of two current MA students. Brandon Nicholson ‘01 An Oakland native, Brandon Nicholson is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of The Hidden Genius Project, an organization that trains and mentors Black male youth in technology creation, entrepreneurship, and leadership skills to transform their lives and communities. Nicholson has always felt a deep sense of commitment to promoting equity in the public realm, particularly in the education space. Previously, he was a Senior Associate at Social Policy Research Associates (SPR), where he conducted research, evaluation, and analysis across a range of key social policy areas. He has considerable experience investigating linkages among race, class, and youth development. Brandon is a graduate of Marin Academy Class of 2001, holds an AB from Princeton University and a PhD in Education Policy from UC Berkeley. He formerly served on the MA Board of Trustees. George Lee, Moderator George Lee is Co-Chief Information Officer at Goldman Sachs. He formerly served on the Marin Academy Board of Trustees and is a parent of 2016 and 2017 MA graduates. He is a frequent panelist and moderator, sharing his expertise on emergent technology and applied innovation. George holds a BA from Middlebury College and an MBA in Finance from The Wharton School.
