About the instructor: Amy Mead serves as an Area Agent for Natural Resources for the NC Cooperative Extension. Her background is in plant biology and coastal water quality. Originally from South Florida, she has a Bachelor's and Master’s degree in Biological Sciences from Florida Atlantic University where she studied seagrass ecology and water quality in the Florida Everglades and Florida Bay. As a Natural Resource Agent for NC Cooperative Extension, she assists residents with issues related to ponds and aquatic weeds, water quality, stormwater, erosion, and native habitat restoration. She is also a certified Arborist and is passionate about native trees and proper tree maintenance.
