Description

Maternal and infant mortality——BLACK AND BROWN GIRLS IN CRISIS!!! Of all women who die during pregnancy or within one year of the end of pregnancy , 60% are Black, 15% are Hispanic, and 14% are White. A TRAGEDY!!! Not only does this tragedy beg the question “why”, but it just as importantly compels us to answer the question “what can we do about such blatant disparity?” Join and participate in this important conversation which will be lead by a team of renowned panelists whose work center around reproductive health and maternal and infant mortality, as well as one of our community leaders who will engage the audience in advocacy training so that we have the tools that will be most effective in addressing this crisis. Women, men, youth, the entire community—-everyone is invited to participate in this important conversation about saving our mothers and our children. Panelists include Dr. Alexandra Cornelius, Tenesha Avent, Joanne Ruggiero, and Esther McCant. The advocacy trainer is Yolanda Cash-Jackson. This is the first of a series of community conversations hosted by the Miami-Dade Black Advisory Board. This first of the series is hosted in collaboration with the Women’s Fund of Miami.
