This beginner level class & event will teach you to make some simple & delicious cheeses that you can make quickly and be able to eat the same day. Each group of students will start with milk and finesse it over the course of the class to transform it into a Pepper queso fresco (fresh cheese) & a Sweet creamy ricotta. We will be adding & learning about special Native Arizona spices and fruits to make this a Western experience.
Participants will learn the best choice of milk to use in cheese making along with learning why & how to use the enzyme rennet and cultures that is use in cheese making to transform the milk into cheese. This class & type of cheeses are a great place to start if you’re new to cheese making. Not only is the class fun, but the cheeses are easy to make and require minimal specialized ingredients or equipment. The Cheeses are also ready to eat very soon after they’re made. In case you were worried about going hungry, we'll be tasting our cheese products soon after they are made. You will leave the class with your own copies of the recipes of the cheese we made and the knowledge to make your own cheese at home and of course your cheese that you made.
Venue: during Get Local/ Mommas Organic Market, Arrowhead Mall Parking Lot, 7700 W. Arrowhead Town Center, Glendale, AZ at Making the Cheese Booth, Maximum amount of students per class is 10-15. Saturday 10:00 am - 12:00pm. March 11, 2023
