The laughter is coming to Owego when Homebrewed Comedy hits the stage at the John Barleycorn on Wednesday, Feb. 22. Doogie Horner is headlining the show and Cortland Cloos and Josh Wilbert are joining host Mike Peters. The show starts at 7:30 p.m., and there's a recommended $5 donation at the door, which opens at 7. Come out and enjoy the show. About the comedians: Mike Peters, a Binghamton comedian, specializes in self-deprecating, observational humor. A contributor for Funny or Die, Peters is the founder of Homebrewed Comedy. He hosts at the Syracuse Funny Bone and Wise Crackers in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., won the Utica Brews Laugh Contest and Uptown Roast Battle and opened for Super Troopers’ Rabbit, Erik Stolhanske and Gilbert Gottfried. Peters produces shows all over New York and hosts his weekly podcasts, On the Mic with Mike Peters and It’s About Time: A Sopranos Watch Podcast. Josh Wilbert is one of the best comedians in the Utica scene. After getting his start in Albany, Wilbert was able to catch some eyes by making the Utica Comedy Cup contest final in 2019. A voice actor, host with Stage Time Trivia in Utica and occasional host of the Uptown Open Mic, Wilbert draws material from his family life as a father and step-father. He’s the regular host at the Fat Katz Comedy Club in New Hartford, N.Y. Cortland Cloos has been performing stand-up for about a decade. He’s hosted and performed as part of the North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival and the Del Close Marathon. Cloos co-wrote and starred in the award-winning comedy short, Drunk Uncle Benny Goes to War. He works at the Uptown Theater in Utica, heavily involved in stand-up and improv. Doogie Horner was a semifinalist on America's Got Talent after winning over a raucous New York City crowd. He performed on Dave Chapelle's Oddball Comedy Tour and is a frequent guest on Doug Loves Movies. He is the author of the holiday classic, A Die Hard Christmas, and has written for Wired, McSweeney’s and Fast Company. His comedy album, A Delicate Man, was an AV Club Staff Pick.
