About Carl HiaasenBorn and educated in Florida, Carl Hiaasen has been called, “America’s finest satirical novelist,” by The London Observer. He is the author of twenty-four thrillers, all set in Florida, where they are read more as documentary than fiction. From 1985 to 2021, he wrote a regular opinion column for the Miami Herald, which at one time or another thrashed just about every major politician in the state -- and occasionally his own bosses. One of Hiaasen's proudest moments came when a Miami City Commissioner who was enraged by the columns introduced a resolution officially denouncing him. Hiaasen has also written several popular novels for young readers: His first, Hoot, won a Newbery Honor. Bad Monkey, Apple TV's upcoming series, filmed in Miami and the Florida Keys, is based on Carl's best-selling novel. The show will star Vince Vaughn. Carl will be interviewed by Key West author and Friends president Lucy Burdette/Roberta IsleibNew Jersey born clinical psychologist Lucy Burdette aka Roberta Isleib is the author of 21 mysteries, including A Dish to Die For, the latest in the Key West series featuring food critic Hayley Snow (Crooked Lane Books.) Her first thriller, UNSAFE HAVEN, was published by Severn House in 2021. Her books and stories have been short-listed for Agatha, Anthony, and Macavity awards.
